Do you speak paper? By the end of this 3-part Zoom workshop I teach exclusively for Atlas Obscura, you'll not only understand your household paper on a new level, but you'll have the skills to transform it into charming handmade books. Over three Thursdays in November, we’ll explore four strategies for transforming ordinary envelopes into extraordinary books and learn how to think about paper like a book artist. This class is appropriate for beginners, but even advanced students will gain new-found confidence in repurposing household paper! Click below to learn more and register!
Making Upcycled Travel Journals
Tuesday, Nov 29, 7--9pm ET
Tuesday, Dec 6, 7--9pm ET
Tuesday, Dec 13, 7--9pm ET
Tuesday, Dec 20, 7-9pm ET
Transform an old harcover book and a pile of kraft envelopes into a clever travel journal with pockets, flaps and space for journaling. Students will learn the steps for creating Hedi Kyle's famous "crown" spine structure, then they'll take it a step further with envelope pages, sewn in signatures, and upcycled blank cards and envelopes. The finished journal will have space for writing, mounting photos, and stashing finds from your journey. You'll be ready to document your next adventure!
